We were thrilled to have the opportunity to capture this classic & timeless wedding at Book Tower in Detroit, MI. As a photographers who works almost exclusively with 35mm film, we are drawn to weddings that carry a sense of story and soul. From the moment David stepped into the Book Tower’s grand lobby that morning to photograph Sarah & Jake’s wedding day, he knew this one would be special. There’s a quiet elegance to that space—the kind of architectural beauty that holds history in its bones—and it mirrored so much of what he saw in Sarah and Jake’s connection: timeless, intentional, and effortlessly beautiful.

Sarah got ready in one of the tower’s light-filled suites, the kind of space where everything slows down just enough to really see the moments unfolding. She sipped champagne and snacked on caviar with her closest friends—equal parts elegant and effortlessly cool. Her “something blue” came in the form of a stunning pair of Jimmy Choos, peeking out beneath layers of silk and lace. There’s something about the softness of natural film grain that just sings in those quiet, in-between moments—the way the morning light wrapped around her veil, the calm focus in her expression as she stepped into her dress. It all felt cinematic without ever trying to be.
Designed by Ines Di Santo, Sarah’s gown embodied modern elegance with a timeless sensibility. The strapless silhouette featured intricate floral appliqué over a delicate grid lace, creating a subtle interplay of texture and structure that felt both ethereal and architectural.
Sarah and Jake’s first look took place on the rooftop of the Book Tower, with sweeping views of the Detroit skyline behind them.
